Correct Curt Trailer Hitch for 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Question:

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. I went to your website and from the information I put in it suggested that the hitch I needed was a Curt 13333. So, I purchased one. The frame tube underneath the truck is too wide for that hitch and the way the bumper is mounted to the tube also seems to be in the way. So, can you help me pick out the right hitch for this truck?

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the issue you had installing the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13333 on your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. He said what you are describing sounds like your particular Ram was built before 11-1-2002. The issue is that the 2003 model Ram was kind of a split year, so if the truck was actually built before 11-1 then the correct hitch is the Curt # 13326. The Curt # 13333 that you tried to install is for models built after 11-1-2002.

To further verify this you can take a look at your truck's VIN. If the 10th digit is a "2" then you do have the older model and the # 13326 is absolutely the correct hitch. If it is a "3" then it was built after 11-1 and the # 13333 should be the correct model. Please let me know if that is the case and I will be happy to look into this further.
