Is Additional Safety Cable Needed When Installing Roadmaster EZ Hook Up to EZ4 Base Plate Kit

We have the RM-655 installed on our Jeep Grand Cherokee. We will using the Roadmaster EZ4 base plate. Ive noticed on a few pictures with this setup there are short safety cables connecting the RM-655 anchors to the EZ4 base plate. Are these required?

The EZ4 base plate kit you have installed on your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee part # RM-521440-4 has safety chain tabs that are on the portion of the kit that attach directly to the vehicle frame. Since this base plate kit did not come with a short safety chain cable like some of the kits do you would not need an additional length of cable.
