Is Silicone Sealant Needed to Install Kats Block Heater

Question:
Do I need to coat the cartridge with silicone for install? I see it mentioned in some places but not in others.

Kat's does recommend coating the cartridge with NSCG silicone grease G-624 before inserting the cartridge heaters like the # KH11812 into the block.
