To install a Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 on your 1997 Chevy Astro van you will first need a couple more components. The first thing you will need a 4-Pole Hardwire Kit # 18252.

Basically, you will test the tail light wires from your tail lights harness with the included circuit tester for voltage when the different functions of your tail lights are being applied, and then wire by function to the tail light harness.

The white wire will be run to a good metal ground on the body of your vehicle.
The brown wire will be run to the tail light circuitry of your vehicle.
The yellow wire will be run to the left turn signal.
The green wire will be run to the right turn signal.

The next thing you will need is a Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit # ETBC7. This will give what is needed to convert the 4-way from the # 18252 to a 7-way and will give you everything you need to install the # 90885 in your vehicle.
