When you state you have the harness coming for the Curt product, I assume you are meaning the custom wiring harness for your Curt Triflex Brake Controller # C24VV. When your controller is properly wired for your vehicle side trailer connection, then you simply add a breakaway kit to your trailer in case your vehicle becomes disengaged from your trailer.
If you don't yet have the breakaway system, I recommend the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit w/ Built-In Charger - Side Load - 7" Wire # 20099. This kit will give you the needed 12V battery, the breakaway pin, and the circuitry to charge and test the charge on the battery.
I've attached the installation details with diagrams to assist.
