Question:
What can you provide for the trucks without the factory plug. Seems that they are not installing the factory wiring or plug any more on grand Cherokee models made after feb 2018 if truck didn’t actually have tow package

For a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee without the factory tow package we offer a 4-pole trailer wiring harness from Tekonsha, part # 118727, that installs at your tail light connectors. This provides a completely independent wiring setup that does not require any factory tow package components.
The harness installs by plugging in at your two tail light assemblies along with connection of one single power wire that delivers 12V operating power from the vehicle battery. Installation is shown in the video I linked for you. This 4-pole kit provides basic trailer lighting functions. You can refer to the linked photo to see the tail light connectors in this kit to ensure they match the ones on your vehicle that plug in at the backs of the tail light housings.
This harness can be converted to a 7-way with that format's additional functions for auxiliary power, trailer brakes and reverse lights by adding our 7-way kit # ETBC7.
