Husky Spring Bars Compatibility with Trailer Hitch Weight of 476 lbs

Published 08/10/2018

Question:

Jason recommended that I dont use the 801-1200 lb spring bars I just purchased, because they are way too stiff for my trailer weight. Can I use the 501-800 lb spring bar 31520 instead of buying a new setup? Does etrailer sell the 31520 spring bar for Husky?

The Replacement Spring Bar for Husky Towing Round Bar Weight Distribution Hitches - Qty 1 # HT31521 are designed for trailers with a total tongue weight (loaded trailer tongue weight along with any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle) between 801 and 1200 lbs. These bars will be far too strong for your trailer and could cause a rough ride and even some wheel bounce. I definitely do not recommend them for your trailer.

My recommendation is to use a system more suited for your trailer weight like the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # HT32216 or the Curt MV Weight Distribution System - Round Bar # C17050 which is a more basic system without sway control. With this system you will need a hitch ball like # 40038 for a 2 inch ball or # C40030 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.

Great question. I reached out to the manufacturer and was able to get the part number of the 501-800 lbs spring bars. You will want part 14-1332 if you choose to use your current system. Unfortunately we are not currently adding parts from that manufacturer to our website. My recommendation is to use the Curt system previously recommended as a replacement.
