Recommended Trailer Hitch for an Outback Sydney 340FBH

Published 07/27/2018

Question:

I have an Outback Sydney 340FBH with an enclosed underbelly...the beams are above the enclosure. Would this be a good option for my camper even though I would have to cut through, and re-piece, the enclosure?

Yes, the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13703 would indeed be a good option for your Outback Sydney 340FBH so long as the frame rails are between 22" - 72" apart which is more than likely the case. As you mentioned, the underbody panel would need to be trimmed depending on where you attach the hitch but this should not be a concern as there will be no harm in doing so. This is actually our most popular trailer hitch for RV's because it is extremely versatile.

The other option you have is the Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # E-100 but you would need to ensure that the bumper is securely attached to the frame and rated for the weight that is placed on the trailer hitch. You would also need to relocate the spare tire for this option but the underbody panels would not need trimmed.

I have attached install videos of either trailer hitch for you as well.
