What is the Gauge of the Metal of Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jacks
Updated 07/24/2018 | Published 07/23/2018 >
Question:
What is the gauge of the metal of the jacks construction? There is another manufacture that advertises that their jacks are made of 11 gauge metal and that may others are made of 14 gauge metal. That is the reason for my question. So many reviews complain about scissor jacks twisting under moderate weight. I would feel better about purchasing a scissor jack that is made of the thickest metal available.

I reached out to a representative of Ultra-Fab who told me that the Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jacks # UF48-979031 are made of 14 gauge powder coated steel. They also said that what gives the jacks their strength is only partially due to the thickness of the steel. The strength also comes from the fact the metal is reinforced with a folded edge for added rigidity, and there are also grooves pressed into the metal which help fortify them.
These jacks have a 6,500 lb support capacity and you can be sure that you will get every available pound of support from them.
