Question:
Hello, In reference to the Plate-Fin Transmission cooler D13502/ or D13503, Does the orientation of the inlet and outlet pointed up, inverted, or to the side Matter with regards to routing the fluid? Will orientation affect flow rate, cooling ability, potential for trapped air? Is one particular way preferred? Is there a particular orientation that should be avoided? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The Derale Series Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13503 can be installed with the hose fittings in any position that will make the installation easier or look more professional on the vehicle. It does not matter which fitting on the cooler is used for the inlet or outlet. It does not have to face a certain direction to function properly as the fluid will make its way to the other side of the cooler regardless of how it is positioned. There isn't a benefit to mounting it one way or another other than some orientations make the installation easier.
