Question:

I bought a used Sportrack Explorer for my 2006 Honda Civic, 4 door. I bought straps and the appropriate hooks to mount without a roof rack. Would you have any pics of someone doing this? Any thoughts or advice? Also, I will be ordering the full parts kit to refurbish the box. Thank you

Your SportRack Explorer Cargo Box is designed to attach to crossbars on a vehicle's roof rack system. I cannot recommend mounting the box to your vehicle in any other way.

For a nice but economical roof rack that is confirmed to fit your 4-Door Honda Civic, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Euro Bar Roof Rack System. This system consists of # RRVA126B-2 for the two 50 inch Crossbars, # RRRLKVA for the 2500 Series Legs, and # DK152 for the Custom DK Fit Kit. I have attached a short video demonstration on this roof rack along with the installation instructions that you can check out.

For a complete hardware kit that will work for your Explorer Cargo Box, you can use the Replacement Hardware Kit # SR05587. This kit includes everything needed to mount the box to your roof rack.

I have attached a video demonstration of the SkyLine box that you can check out. The mounting process will essentially be the same for your Explorer model.
