Will My Gooseneck Adpater Work With My Trail Air Rota Flex Pin Box
Updated 07/03/2018 | Published 06/30/2018 >
Question:
I have had a Gooseneck Off-Set adapter on my 2008 Carraige Cameo for 3 years. I am getting ready to purchase a 2018 Palomino Columbus 5th wheel with a Trail Air Rota Flex pin box installed on it. Will I be able to use the Off-Set Adapter on my new trailer? Will the Trail Air Rota Flex pin box cause any problems? Would like to purchase a new one as the one on the Cameo is showing some wear and tear.

I am happy to let you know that we have potential solutions. One of the best options is to connect your 2018 Palomino Columbus 5th wheel trailer is to replace your gooseneck with a 5th wheel hitch. If you can let me know the Year, Make, Model and bed size of your truck, I can make a recommendation.
If you have an adapter like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset 16" # CAB-C5GX1216 or any other type of gooseneck adapter, then it should not be used with the Trailair Rota-Flex pin box. Adapters are not compatible with Trail-Air's Rota-Flex pin boxes due to the forward and rearward movement in this pin box.
Changing the Rota-Flex pin box on your trailer with an original standard pin box is something we may want to look into. I can find which original pin box that fits your trailer if you can provide me with the VIN of the trailer.
There were only 3 Rota Flex pin boxes (though there were several versions). They fit in place of either the 1621/1621HD, 1716, or 1116 factory pin boxes.
The Lippert part numbers for the Rota Flex pin boxes are:
For 1621/HD = # 160468, # 328330, # 282088, or # 328329
For 1716 = # 320734
For 1116 = # 176440
