Expert Reply:
There is not a plug and play option for a brake controller on a 2000 Ford Ranger; installing a brake controller such as the Primus IQ # TK90160 will require you to hardwire the unit. You can take a look at how to do this by checking out the help article I've linked detailing how to install a brake controller.
You will also need a 4-flat, part # 118344 if you do NOT have the factory tow package or # C55384 if you do have the factory tow package. Additionally, you need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you a 7- and 4-way trailer connector, circuit breakers and the rest of the hardware needed to install a brake controller.
