Can a 2015 Chevy Sonic RS be flat towed behind an RV without ruining the transmission? What would be necessary in order to do this if it’s possible.

According to the owner's manual for the 2015 Chevy Sonic the RS models with automatic transmission cannot be flat towed. It can be towed on a dolly though.

To tow the vehicle using a dolly, follow these steps:

1. Attach the dolly to the tow vehicle following the dolly manufacturer's instructions.
2. Drive the front wheels onto the dolly.
3. Put an automatic transmission in P (Park) or a manual transmission into 1 (First) gear.
4. Set the parking brake and remove the key.
5. Clamp the steering wheel in a straight-ahead position with a clamping device designed for
towing.
6. Secure the vehicle to the dolly.
7. Release the parking brake.

For a towing dolly use Roadmaster # RM-2050-1 It has electric brakes, so to utilize them your RV would need to have a brake controller.

As long as your Sonic has the 195/65-15 or 205/55-16 tire size you can use this dolly. Anything larger than a 16 inch wheel and it won't fit on this dolly.
