Question:
Im trying to identify the brand of landing gear on my 5th wheel. The trailer is a 1996 Nash 27. There are no labels or model numbers that I can see on the landing gear. The gear box is not sealed like others I see. the gears are exposed... just set between a couple of pieces of 3/8inch plate. The electric motor has a mfg label by Von Wise. Any Ideas? thanks for your help

I was able to find that the landing gear brand used on your 1996 Nash 5th wheel trailer was RBW, but this was the only information Northwood Manufacturing (maker of Nash trailers) could find. Unfortunately the RBW trailer product lines were dissolved several years ago, so finding replacement parts or repair kits will be virtually impossible. You may get lucky at a junk yard with old trailers somewhere, but it will be a long shot.
If you are having issues with your landing gear legs, I strongly recommend replacing them completely with a modern standard kit like the Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear Set, # LG-1. You will likely have to relocate the frame brackets for this kit to fit, but it includes new frame brackets so you won't have to reuse the old plates. This kit has weld stops that are 1 inch wide and 16-1/2 inches apart on center.
If you need a landing gear kit with weld stops that are farther apart, you can use part # LG-4, which has weld stops that are 20-1/2 inches apart on center. This is important because the included weld on brackets will have to be welded to the trailer frame at a location that matches up with the weld stops.
I've attached links to the installation instructions for these kits for you to check out if you think this might be a job that you will tackle yourself. These kits also include covered gears, a separate gear box, motor and switch.
