Question:

Hi I am trying to figure out what size draw bar? The vehicle is a 2011 Honda Accord coupe V4. The hitch is a Curt C11496 class 1. The height of the coupler is 17. The trailer has a 200lb tongue weight max 800 lb. Thank you

When we installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11496 on a 2011 Honda Accord we found that from the ground to the inside top of the receiver measured 11-3/4". Since the bottom of your coupler is 17" off of the ground you need a draw bar that has aout a 5" rise.

For a drawbar I recommend using the Curt Drawbar # C45024 which is has a 5" rise and is rated for towing up to a 2,000 lb trailer with a max tongue weight (TW) of 200 lbs. You can use part # A-80 for a 1-7/8" hitch ball or part # A-82 for a 2" hitch ball. A hitch pin and clip like part # F-4 will also be needed.

Both the trailer hitch and this drawbar have a max TW of 200 lbs so your trailer will be right at that. I recommend making sure that your trailer is loaded properly as 200 lbs TW is pretty heavy for an 800 lb loaded trailer. When loading your trailer you need to shoot for a TW that is 10-15% of the weight of your loaded trailer. This means that your 800 lb loaded trailer should have a TW range of 80 lbs - 120 lbs. Be sure to load your heaviest cargo directly above or slightly in front of the axle on your trailer.

You can use a tongue weight scale like part # e99044 or one of the methods highlighted in the helpful article to achieve the correct TW for your trailer.
