Is There a Replacement Strap Available for the Thule 916XTR

Question:

I bought a Thule (916XTR) rack for my mountain bike mounts on hitch back in 2013 and one of the straps over the cradle has broken. I dont see any like it on the website and I know the newer racks have a different design. By chance do you still sell any that fit the 2013 model? PS, I like my rack MUCH better than the new version. Too many plastic parts in place of metal and not as sturdy or functional. Id like to keep mine alive as long as I can!

I do have a solution for you. I was able to speak with my contact over at Thule who informed me that the 916XTR bike rack does not have just the replacement strap available. However, the Replacement Fat Tire Rear Wheel Holder & Strap # 7521568001 will work to replace the rear tire holder on your 916XTR and includes the strap. The cradle is just a little bit wider than the original you currently have but that is because it can now support a fat tire bike. Not to worry though, it is still the correct part for more normal sized tires and per Thule will work with your 916XTR.

I'm in a similar situation but wondering if I can buy only the strap vs the entire component?

@Rachel Thule does not offer just the strap on part # 7521568001 as a separate replacement part. We have the holder and strap as a quantity of 1, but we do not carry just the strap itself. It may be a bit bigger than your original but it will still work with your bike rack, and normal sized tires.
