Choosing a Flat Towing Setup for a 2012 Ford Fusion

Question:

How is the Sterling towing bar better than a bar in the Blue Ox system? I am considering both. I want to tow my 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid behind my class A coach.

The biggest advantage that the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain # RM-576 has over the Blue Ox tow bars is that safety cables and a partial wiring kit are included. For a compatible base plate kit for your 2012 Ford Fusion we have the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 4420-1.

To finish up your wiring you need the Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152 and since you have to leave your key in the ACC position I also recommend installing the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to keep your battery from draining.

Most states now require the use of a supplemental braking system for safe travel. One of the most popular options that we have is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251. Once installed it takes a simple connection and flip of a switch to get ready for the road. You also need the Relay Kit # RM-88400 to keep the brake signal on your Fusion from overriding the turn signal from your RV.

Typically a high-low adapter is also needed to keep the tow bar within its safe operating range. Attached is our selection of adapters as well as a helpful article you can reference to help you choose the correct one.
