Question:
I have a 86 model Prowler fifth wheel camper it is 24 with tandem axle 15 wheels 5x4.5 bolt pattern with 10 electric brakes. I am wanting to put new axels as the ones are the stock factory and starting to bend. And I want to swap the axel to bottom of leaf springs. To make the camper pull level with my truck. Do you have any recommendation as to witch axels to use? I have tried to contact fleetwood and they where no help unfortunately. I do not have exact measurements of axels at the moment.

In order to locate a compatible axle replacement for your 1986 Prowler 5th Wheel Camper, you will want to take a few measurements on your existing axle, along with verifying its capacity.
When measuring an axle for replacement, you will want to first measure its hub face length. This refers to the length of the axle from the base of one wheel stud to the base of the wheel stud on the opposite side of the axle. Then you will measure its spring center, which is measured from the center of the spring seat on one side to the center of the spring seat on the other. This measurement will essentially give you the approximate width of your trailer.
For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle # 35545E-ST-89 has an 89 inch hub face length and a 74 inch spring center (see attached image). It has a 3,500 pound capacity and includes 5 on 4-1/2 inch hubs and electric brake assemblies. For an the Over-Under Conversion Kit that will work with this 2-3/8 inch diameter axle, you will just need # K71-384-00. I have attached a short video demonstration on this axle, along with a link that will take you to our available selection that you can look through.
Another option to consider is a Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System like # A35RS545E. This will do a nice job of replacing the axles on your trailer and they can fit any frame width. They will provide a smooth, quiet ride and can eliminate the need for a standard axle.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system so you can get a closer look as to how it installs and operates.
