Will Curt Safety Cables C80176 Work on a Trailer with 24 Inch Folding Tongue Extension
Updated 05/31/2018 | Published 05/29/2018 >
Question:
What is the effective length I can span with this product? I am going to use a Fulton 4 x 3 fold away with about a 24inch extension from the fold away to the end of the coupler. I have a 2009 Dodge 2500 with factory towing package

It really depends on where the safety chain mounts are on the trailer. At 42 inches long safety cables # C80176 are good for at least 21 inches but ultimately it depends on where the safety chain mounts are on the trailer side.
If they are right behind the hinge then a 24 inch length would not be an issue. If the mounts are off to the side or much further back then there could be issues when making turns.
