What is the best way to tow a 2006 Honda Odyssey? It will be behind our RV.

If a vehicle is able to be flat towed then this is the best way to pull it beind a motorhome. You don't need to worry about hauling a trailer or tow dolly around or finding a place to store it when you're not towing. In order to flat tow your 2006 Honda Odyssey you need a tow bar, base plate kit, a lighting solution, braking system, and probably a high-low adapter.

The base plate kits are custom designed to fit your vehicle. I recommend the Demco Classic, part # DM9518185, for your Odyssey because you don't need to worry about removing the arms an they're still mostly out of the way. Then for a compatible tow bar use the Demco Commander II, part # DM9511012. It connects right up to the base plates and includes safety cables so that's one less thing to worry about.

The van needs to have lighting that works in conjunction with the RV's. I recommend installing a diode kit, part # RM-15267. Once it's installed you just need to connect the van's new 6-way connetor to your RV's 7-way. This kit includes the 6-way, the wiring and diodes you need, as well as the cord to go from the RV to the Odyssey. I've linked a video that shows the installation on a 2010 Odyssey. You also need to add a Brake-Lite relay kit, part # RM-88400, to keep the van's lights from overriding the motorhome's. One other thing is a charge line kit, part # RM-156-25. It's not required but definitely comes in handy to keep your van's battery from draining while towing. You can connect it to the unused center pin on the new 6-way connector.

For a supplemental braking system the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems.

Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.
