Trailstar Trailer Axle is Bent Causing Tires to Wear Quickly

Question:

I have a 1997 trailstar boat trailer. I believe the axle is bent. Nearly every summer I go through a set of tires because they wear really fast on the inside edge. I removed the axle and it indeed is not straight. Is there an axle, hub and bearing kit that comes together? if not what are the individual parts. The part number on the axle is 010495. The overall length of the axle is 77.25 inch the hub face measurement is 72.25 inch The axle bracket appears to have a specific fit to the springs. I have attached pics. the spring gap is 26

The problem may not be your axle at all. Is it bent upwards or downwards towards the ground? If it is upwards then that is normal but down means it does need to be replaced.

The reason axles have an upward arc to them is so that when a load is placed on them they straighten out and your tires run evenly. When the inside of the tread on your tires wears on the inside that is a good indication that you are overloading the axle which is causing it to bend down too much.

Try checking the weight capacity of your axle. If it isn't marked on your trailer then look in the middle of the axle itself. The capacity should be stamped there.
