Is the Class II CURT Hitch for 2003 Toyota Camry Compatible with Class II Bike Racks
Updated 08/23/2011 | Published 08/22/2011 >
Question:
part # 12339 for a 2003 Camry. In reading reviews of my Hollywood Racks, Sport Rider 2 bicycle carrier, one person said their U-Haul installed 1-1/4 hitch the brand wasnt mentioned had a tab within the 1-14 receiver tube that prevented the bike carrier from sliding in far enough to align the pin holes. The fix was to cut 1/2 off the end of the bike carrier slug, and I do not want to cut anything. So on the Curt hitch, is there a stop within the 1-1/4 receiver tube that would limit how far in the slug can be ed? Or is it 1-1/4 all the way through, with nothing in the way to stop the slug?

This CURT Trailer Hitch # 12339 that you referenced is a Class II hitch and does not have that metal slug welded into the hitch opening. You would be able to use Class I or II accessories without having to modify anything.
The metal slug you are referring to is a safety device that is installed on Class I hitches to prevent Class II accessories from being installed into a Class I hitch and potentially damaging the hitch and tow vehicle. It is not recommended to remove that slug in Class I hitches as it voids the warranty of the hitch in most situations.
As long as the bike rack you have is designed for hitches with 1-1/4 inch openings this hitch would work well for you.
I attached installation instructions and an installation video for this product for you to check out also.
