Even though the wiring looks the same for flat towing and trailer towing with a 2004 Jeep Liberty, you actually will need to use different wiring harnesses.
If you don't already have wiring on your Liberty for towing a trailer then I recommend going with the Tekonsha T-One # 118524. This comes with connectors that T into the wiring on your tail lights and wiring that you run up to your battery to power your trailer lights. This gives you a 4-Way connector to activate the standard light functions on your trailer.
For flat towing you can use a kit like the Hopkins # HM56203 which T's into the tail lights just like the T-One. These two kits can actually be plugged into each other. The only problem with the Hopkins is that it has a 4-Way connector. Since most RVs have a 7-Way connector behind them I recommend going with the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 instead. This includes diodes to keep back-feed from happening.
With the flat towing setup you also need to install the Relay Kit # RM-88400 to prevent the brake signal on your Liberty from overriding the turn signal from your RV.
Please note that a complete flat towing setup includes a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. Let me know if you are missing any of these parts and I can make some recommendations for you.
I have also attached some installation details and videos that you can reference.
