Question:
I do hitch installations at large moving company name here, and I installed this hitch for a customer on his 2018 Outback. It went on fine, but I ran into something interesting that I havent on previous models of the Outback the muffler hits the hitch at the rear-most corner on the driver side while the vehicle is running. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or could thing of a solution.

Sometimes when a trailer hitch is installed it will come into contact with the muffler of the vehicle like you described with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13206 on the 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon. This is actually not as uncommon as you think. We actually have a helpful article dedicated just to this problem which I have linked for you to check out.
The long and short of it is that you simply need to maneuver the exhaust hanger or even bend it a little so that the muffler is not contacting the trailer hitch. You can also change out the isolator to accomplish the same task. These methods, with pictures, are described in detail in the attached article I mentioned.
