Best Trailer Hitch for a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 with the 2" OEM Trailer Hitch

Question:

I have a 2006 dodge ram 3500 SRW mega cab 4x4 5.9 engine. I am looking to remove the factory 2 inch receiver and replace it with a 2.5 inch receiver. Can you tell me what my options are please? thanks.

I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15809 for your 2006 Dodge Ram 3500. This is a Class V trailer hitch with a 2-1/2" receiver. It has a Gross Towing Weight (GTW) rating of 20,000 lbs and a Tongue Weight (TW) rating of 2,700 lbs. Keep in mind that your Ram 3500 needs to be rated for those weights to tow at the full capacity of the trailer hitch.

This trailer hitch requires that the factory bumper still be installed, but it can actually fit under your OEM 2" trailer hitch. If you still choose to remove your OEM trailer hitch then the Curt will fit, but I recommend leaving the OEM trailer hitch so that you don't need to use an adapter for smaller towing applications.
