How to Activate Trailer Running Light Circuit of 2009 Nissan Frontier
Updated 03/12/2018 | Published 03/11/2018 >
Question:
Just rcvd my Hopkins connectar to connect to my 09 frontier connector under frame near bumper. My utility trailer has 5 wires 4 prong. All works fine exempt running lights. Your rep now tells me I need additional connector inside truck. That package looks like connectors inside truck wiring for under truck and connector I just rcvd from you. Why was I sold a connector that does not work for running lights. Please let me know what my options are. Thanks,

I apologize for the confusion. The issue is that Nissan did some random things with the trailer wiring on the Frontiers like your 2009 model. Some of the vehicles have the needed relay to activate the running light and some just don't.
There is a relay for the trailer running light circuit that is located in the fuse box (in the cab). If that relay is missing or no longer functions, then it can be replaced with one of the blue relays from the Curt Relay Kit # C57000.
The relay of the running light circuit on your 2009 Nissan Frontier is in the relay harness behind the passenger floorboard kick panel.
If you check out the install video I attached, the first thing shown is how to access this area.
