Recommendation For 2002 Saturn VUE And Saturn L Series Base Plates

For base plates, I recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, Item # 3111-1, for a 2002 Saturn VUE and the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, Item # 523102-1, for a 2002 Saturn L. For flat-towing either vehicle, you will also need a tow bar, safety cables, wiring, a braking system, and maybe a high-low hitch adapter.

For a tow bar that works with both base plate kits and vehicles, I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-binding Tow Bar, Item # RM-522. For safety cables, I recommend the RoadMaster Coiled Safety Cables, Item # RM-643.

For lighting, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit, Item # RM-15267. To maintain the separate light functions of either Saturn, you will need a wiring converter like Item # 118158 and 2 additional diodes like Item # RM-792.

For the 2002 Saturn VUE you will need a Brake Light Relay like Item # RM-88400. For the 2002 Saturn L Series, check the owner's manual to find out how many fuse bypasses you will need. You will need either 1 fuse bypass, Item # RM76515, or 2 fuse bypasses, Item # RM-76515 and Item # RM-76515-10.

Most states require a supplemental braking system for flat towed vehicles and I recommend the Stay-In-Play Braking System, Item  # SM99251, that will work with either Saturn. It is a great proportional braking system that has a convenient one time set-up. 

Finally, a high-low hitch adapter may also be needed to keep your tow bar level while flat towing either Saturn. A "safe zone" of 3 inches above or 3 inches below level must be maintained while towing a vehicle. High-low adapters provide necessary rise or drop to get into the "safe zone".
