Recommendation for Reese Goose Box With Too Little Height Clearance on 2017 Ford F-250 4x4
Question:
I purchase a Rease Goose box 5th wheel adapter Part # 94622 to match my 5th wheel liapert 1621 wings. I have a 2017 Ford F-250 4X4 factory height with a BandW turnover goose neck hitch. I can not get the recommended clearance of 7” between the bed rails of the truck and the bottom of the camper as shown in the instigation instructions. The most I can get is 3”. This with the goose box mounted in the lowest holes on the camper wings. Am I missing something?

The Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR may not be the best fit. If you have already adjusted the air and the position of the connection, then it is not ideal as you really do want the 7 inches for proper turning clearance on an incline. You can gain 1 inch by using the High-Rise Ball # BWGNXA2050, but it sounds like you need a different option than the Goose Box for your 2017 Ford F-250 4x4.
If you want to send a photo to confirm proper installation, I can assist, but it sounds like you have it installed correctly. My recommendation is to return the Goose Box and get the Companion 5th wheel hitch # BWRVK3500 if you have a long bed or Companion Slider # BWRVK3400 if you have a short bed and use the original Pin Box or an air ride replacement like # 5AB-E1621-610.
