Yes, the Thule OutWay 3 Bike Carrier, # TH56BV, will work great on your 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon. I recently had the chance to install this rack on a vehicle and it is the easiest to install and remove trunk mount rack that I have used. For this reason, this is the rack I personally would choose for a trunk mount rack.

You will need to remove the rack to open the rear of the vehicle because the bottom support on the rack will rest on the top of the bumper when properly installed, see instructions link.

I have included links to a video for you to review that should help with your decision. You may also want to consider a bike adapter bar, # TH982XT, for use with bikes that do not have a horizontal cross bar for carrying the bikes level, see video.

If you decide that access to the back of the vehicle is required with the bike rack attached, you might want to consider a hitch and hitch bike rack. I recommend the Hidden hitch trailer hitch, # 87568, and the Thule Camber 4 Bike rack, # TH9056. For a bike carrier you could choose the extremely popular Thule T2 Platform-Style Rack, # TH983JV for 2 bikes or the # TH69TX for 4-bikes for its ease of loading and unloading the bikes. The adapter bar is not needed for these plat-form style carriers because they hold the bikes by their tires.
