Recommended Trailer Tire That is Over 5 Inches Wide and Under 17 Inches Diameter

Updated 02/06/2018 | Published 02/05/2018

Question:

I have a small homeade trailer and I need two new wheels 4 hole and tires. Currently I have 4.8 x 8 tires, but Id like to put a wider tire on the trailer to reduce ruts made. I pull it around with a JD Gator. My current application, the total height is 16inch . I have room to go up to 17inch Tall tire and rim, but no taller than 17. Im having trouble finding a wider tire and rim that does not exceed the 17inch height???

I have the perfect wheel and tire combo for you. For this you are going to want to use a 165/65-8 tire. A 165/65-8 tire is going to be 1.4" wider and .4" taller than a 4.80/4.00-8 tire. The total dimensions of a 165/65-8 tire are 5.4" wide x 16.5" diameter.

I recommend using the Kenda 165/65-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel part # AM3H200 which as the title states, has a 165/65-8 tire on a 8" diameter wheel. This wheel has a 4 on 4" bolt pattern that is compatible with 1/2"-20 wheel studs. The tire has a load range C rating which equals a max load of 800 lbs per tire at 70 psi.

I have attached a review video of the above wheel/tire combo for you as well.
