Question:
Hi, I have a 2008 Nissan Titan, I just purchased a hitch and 7pin connector and installed on the truck. Turn signals, brake lights, and 12v power works. My issue is the running lights, when I turn my headlights on the running lights are off however, when I switch the headlights back to the off position the running lights come on. I have tested the truck connector to make sure that it’s ok and I do not get power to running light pin. I have installed the nessesary relays and replaced fuses under the hood for the tow lights and still doin the same thing. I’m at a loss.... any help or insight would be appreciated

It sounds like the ground wire of your system needs improving. The ground needs to be bare metal to metal with no corrosion or rust. Even paint can affect the quality of your ground. Normally when one function doesn't work correctly like in this instance, the ground is the issue. A poor ground can show when a significant power draw like headlights is present and when the draw is not there, the function returns. I recommend you use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check your functions and use dielectric grease # 11755 to assist with a good connection keeping moisture and debris out of your connections.
