Will part #TH56BV work on a 2006 new beetle soft-top convertible? The trunk door is small, not sure if this will be too big?

I would recommend a hitch and hitch mount bike rack for your 2006 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible.
Because there is no place to secure the top straps of a trunk mounted bike rack, none of the manufacturers carry a trunk mount that is recommended for the convertible models.
The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch, # 24679, along with the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670, platform 2 bike rack would be an excellent setup for transporting bikes with your Beetle.
