Magnets for electric brakes all function the same but are designed to work with different sizes and brands of brake assemblies-12 inch, 10 inch, etc. When replacing them, you need to get the right size that fits your brake assembly and your axle weight rating. The brand name is usually stamped into the hub/drum or it may be listed on a sticker/label on the axle and/or brake assembly. For example, a replacement magnet kit for 12 inch electric brake assemblies for a 5,200-lbs to 7,000-lbs axles is Item # AKBRKR-M12. Item # AKBRKR-M12 works with AxleTek, Dexter, Lippert and most manufacturers.

While The OL or "overload" code could be brake magnet related, it can also be caused by other things. The OL code is normally related to the wire (generally blue) that supplies the power from the controller to the trailer connector to the brakes. This may be caused by bad magnets or a short somewhere on that wire.

Start by checking to make sure your ground wires are firmly secured to clean, metal surfaces.

Next, check the power/blue wire connection at the brake controller and at the back of the 7-way connector on the rear of your vehicle. Make sure all connections are clean, corrosion-free, and not loose. If everything is good on your Silverado then check your trailer connector and make sure all of its connections are clean, corrosion-free, and no loose or pinched wires.

If you still have challenges, move to your brake assembly and make sure your magnets are not worn down or their wires are loose or pinched. You will also need to test trailer brake magnets with a multimeter like Item # PT89ZR. I am attaching an article specifically about brake magnets that will help.
