Troubleshooting A-Frame Weld-On Coupler Not Going Over Hitch Ball Smoothly

Question:
When Im hitching the coupler is not going over the ball smoothly, I tried rocking the trailer back and forth and it doesnt help, what works is to apply trailer brakes and pull forward and then it sets in place.

There are a few reasons why you might be having some difficulty latching your A-Frame Weld-On Coupler # CA5400.
First, I recommend making sure that the coupler is unlatching completely when you are uncoupling from the hitch ball. It's possible that it is unlatching just enough to release from the ball but not all the way, making for a more difficult connection when hooking back up to the tow vehicle. I also recommend making sure that the coupler is free of dirt, debris or corrosion, as that may lead to obstructions preventing a smooth connection.
Lastly, just make sure you are using the correct size hitch ball, as this particular coupler is designed only for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.

I’m having the same issue and tried everything as far as relieving pressure with the jack and making sure it’s seated correctly in the coupler. The only thing that works is if I use a crowbar between my hitch and the coupler and wiggle it a few times. It then latches on its own. Is there a fine adjustment on these?
