The Replacement Ball for Curt Gooseneck Flat Plate Hitch - Raw Steel - 2-5/16" Diameter - 30K # C40094 is a weldable high-strength steel alloy that is heat treated. It is designed as a replacement part for the Curt Gooseneck Flat Plate # C65500 which uses a 3/8 inch plate to get a 30,000 lb capacity rating.
For best results you will want to use a filler metal that is high yield comparable. My contact at Curt can't give you what wire to use or the speed in which to feed it.
