Question:
I have an I beam trailer that the I beam is 4W and 8H. We are looking for a weight distribution hitch that would fit trailer. Is there accessories that we can by to make this hitch fit? Do they sell 8-10inch metal connectors with 4.5 or 5inch bolts and if not is there a reason?

I-beam trailers like what you have do make it a bit tricky to add a weight distribution system, however it can indeed be done with a little modification.
In order to use a standard weight distribution system like the Reese # RP66131, you will need to have steel plates (5 or 6 inches wide) welded to box the frame out on the trailer. Once the plates are welded on, you can use a chain hanger kit like the Reese # RP58305 to attach the system. I do recommend having an experienced welder perform this task. You will also want to check with the trailer manufacturer just to be sure this will be safe or won't void the trailer warranty.
In order to choose the best weight distribution system for your setup, you will need to determine your total tongue weight. This number includes both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any additional cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Ideally this number will be somewhere near the middle of the operating range for the system you choose. For example, the above-mentioned Reese system features a tongue weight capacity of 800 to 1,500 pounds.
