I've linked the insallation details of the Draw-Tite Activator Brake Controller, part # 5504, on this page for you. We don't have specific details, or a video, of a 2002 Acura MDX but the process is basically the same on all vehicles. The controller's black wire connects to the positive side of the vehicle's battery through a circuit breaker and white wire connects to the negative side of the battery. The blue wire runs to the 7-way trailer connector at the rear of the Acura and the red wire connects to the cold side of the stop light switch, which is near the top of the brake pedal generally. The cold side is the circuit that only has power when the pedal is pressed.
Use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2992, to find the correct wires in your vehicle to connect to. You can also use the adapter # 20127. It plugs into the controller and provides the wires to splice in.
If the Acura doesn't already have trailer wiring you need to start with a 4-way. Use part # 118336 which plugs right in to a connector in the cargo area. I've linked a video on a 2003 MDX for you. Then convert the 4-way to a 7-way using our # ETBC7 kit. This kit provides everything you need to install the fully functioning 7-way and have all the wiring for the brake controller.
I've linked some articles that might be helpful as well.
