For your 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Diesel, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76217. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver tube opening. This is the only trailer hitch that is a confirmed fit for the Diesel models at this time.
In order to complete your towing setup you will also need a wiring harness, ball mount/hitch ball and brake controller if you will be towing a trailer with brakes. If you do not already have a trailer connector, I recommend taking a look at the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118759 as this is a completely plug and play harness.
In order to recommend the correct ball mount and hitch ball you would need to do a bit of measuring first. I have attached an article that will walk you through this process but should your ball mount need a 2" or 4" drop then you can use the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 which is an excellent starter kit.
If you need a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 as this is one of our most popular and well reviewed brake controllers partly due to it's easy to use design and built-in integrated safeguards. In order to install this brake controller you will also need to use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7.
