Does Hopkins 7-Way # HM40975 Fit 2017 Ford Explorer

Question:

I pulled the rear ended of my vehicle apart and there is not a round connector behind the bumper. I found a square connector though do I need the 4-way?

The Hopkins trailer wiring 7-way part # HM40975 that you referenced is a fit for your 2017 Ford Explorer and will attach directly to the wiring of the vehicle without any additional wiring. Basically it plugs right in to the round connector behind your rear bumper and you'd be set.

So what you'd need to start with is the # 118540 to allow you to have the taillight functions of the trailer wiring complete. You could then cut the 4-way off and wire the harness to the part # HM40985 which will plug into the 7-way you have's round socket. You just need to wire the colors by function.
