Troubleshooting 2014 Ram 1500 Trailer Functions Not Working Correctly

Question:
Good evening! I just picked up a trailer and check all the lights with another vehicle. Everything worked. When I hooked up my 2014 ram 1500 the left turn signal on the trailer doesn’t work but it works on my truck. Since I bought the truck used there has been a parking light out display on my dash whenever my lights are on night time driving but work no warning during day time. My mirror led turn signals don’t work also. I am just looking for a direction to look. How does my truck blinker work but not the trailer one work when it’s attached?

It sounds like the trailer connection itself may need to be cleaned as sometimes functions get debris or corrosion that causes them to not work properly. Another possibility is that your ground wire connection to your truck frame may need to be cleaned up for a bare metal to metal connection. Sometimes a ground will allow some functions to work and not others if is not as solid as it should be.
I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test each function. I've attached a video as well as an article to assist.
