How to Install New Trailer Tail Light with 3 Wires

Question:

On the drivers side of the trailer I have the yellow and brown wires. My new tail light wires are red , black , and white. That goes where?

Most likely, the red wire on your new tail light is for the turn signal, the black wire is for the tail light and the white wire is for ground.

I do recommend testing the wires on your trailer for function, but typically the yellow wire will be for the left turn signal and the brown wire will be for the tail lights. If this is correct, the red wire from the light will connect to the yellow wire on the trailer and the black wire will connect to the trailer's brown wire. The white ground wire should be secured to a clean, bare metal area on the trailer itself.
