Adapting a Thule Flat Top Ski Carrier to a 2016 Volkswagen Touareg with Base Carrier Cross Bars

I have a 2016 VW Touareg with OEM cross bars VW calls them base carriers. I would like to take my Thule Flat Top 4 -Snowboard carrier and flush mount it on the bars using the T-slots on the cross bars. Will buying 4 of these bolts Item # 853208904 and 4 of these knobs Item # 753-0745 work for this conversion? Im assuming I will need to first drill out the mounting brackets first.

You can actually save a lot of time and avoid drilling by using the Thule XAdapter, part # XADAPT2 to replace your FlatTop's mounting hardware. This is sized to the Volkswagen's OEM crossbars and will let you make a quick swap to a flush mount.
