Question:

Can any 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk be flat towed or do I have to buy the standard transmission Jeep Compass and add skid plates so I have something I can use on the back Mountain Roads

According to page 295 of the owner's manual for a 2018 Jeep Compass you cannot flat tow a Compass but you can use a tow dolly with the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) version though.

To tow your Compass with a tow dolly you will need to either use the Roadmaster Tow Dolly part # RM-2050-1.

You can choose to just use the basic lighting functions but I recommend installing either part # PK11604 for a 6-Way or part # PK12706 for a 7-Way that is compatible with the connector on your tow vehicle. By installing one of these connectors you can then utilize the brakes that come with the tow dollies which will make traveling mountain roads much more safe.

Please note that part # RM-2050-1 does not come with a 4-Way for the lighting functions. You will need to install a 4-Way # HM48110 if you choose to only utilize the lighting functions.
