Will the Titan T4750820 Actuator Replace Global Direct Components GDC-120 Without Drilling New Holes

Question:
I have an older Magic Tilt tandem axle boat trailer that needs the disc brake Coupling replaced. The coupling was made by Global Direct Components Model GDC-120 rated at 12,000 lb GVWR and tongue rating 1000 lb GVWR. It looks like the Titan T4750820 is the one to replace mine. The question I have is the spacing of the mounting holes, because if possible I would to avoid drilling new holes in the tongue of my trailer. The spacing on mine is 6 inches with a 3rd hole directly in the middle. Photo attached.

Expert Reply:
Since the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator # T4750820 that you referenced has a weight capacity of 12,500 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 1,250 lbs it will serve well as a replacement actuator for your application.
The mounting holes are spaced differently than what you show which means you will need to drill new holes into your trailer tongue. Your mounting holes are spaced in a straight line where the mounting holes for the Titan actuator form more of an arc.
Instead of the Actuator # T4750820, I recommend going with an actuator that will not require you to drill new holes. I spoke with my contact at Titan who said that their actuator # T4830200 uses the same mounting hole pattern, is rated for 20,000 lbs, and has an integrated 4 inch drop. The primed version can be found with part # T4830420.
If you do not want an actuator that has a 4 inch drop, the next best thing would be to use a weld on option which can be found as part # T4750520. We recommend having any welding done professionally so as to help avoid accidents from occurring.
