Carrying a FeelFree Lure 13.5 Fishing Kayak on the Roof of a 2016 GMC Acadia

Question:

I'm buying a Feelfree Lure 13.5, will the combination of Yakima HandRoll Kayak Rack Mounts and Yakima Deck Hand saddles be able to handle the weight?? Thanks

I have a solution for you, but the Yakima DeckHand and HandRoll kit, part # Y04083-04082 are only rated to carry 80 pound kayaks. This limit is because of the spring-loading used in the saddles and rollers.

Since it seems like you want to stick with a hull down load, which makes a lot of sense considering that my research shows the Feelfree Lure 13.5 weighs about 95 pounds, I'd stick to saddle style racks.

Specifically, the Lockrack Adjustable XL, part # LR54FR is one of the better options for your kayak. This carrier has a weight capacity of 175 pounds, so it will handle your Feelfree with ease.

If you don't already have a roof system for your 2016 GMC Acadia, you will need to add one to help support the weight of your kayak. I've included a link to all available roof racks for the Acadia. If you would like a specific recommendation let me know if you have factory roof rails or not and we can go from there.

My research shows the Acadia having a 220 pound weight capacity on the roof, so you will be able to use most any setup. Just remember that the weight capacity will include the roof rack itself, the kayak carrier and the kayak, and needs to stay below the lowest weight limit of the roof rack or roof itself.
