Question:

Im looking at a 2 Inch Hitch for a 2016 VW Tiguan, which mostly will be used for a bike rack. The Curt model says it needs a stabilizer but the etrailer doesnt. Do both brands need a stabilizer and an anti-rattle pin? Which pin is recommended for these brands? Id like a secure one that locks as I park outside in a busy area.

The etrailer hitch part # e98906 is the best choice for a bike rack for your 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan since it does not require a stabilizer strap like the Curt does.

The best hitch lock will vary on the bike rack that you use.

I really like the Saris Freedom Superclamp part # SA4025F. This is a lightweight platform rack (which is normally an unheard of combo). That means it'll be easy to install and remove from your vehicle since it's light, but also it'll be very easy to load bikes on since it's a platform rack. This rack also includes a hitch lock and a cable lock to lock the bikes to the rack.
