Hi thanks for answering my question. I have one more is there an extension that would work for my situation even if is is longer than 4 inches? When can you use an extension?

Best solution we have is a long weight distribution shank. The part # RP3215 is 13 inches long which is around 4 inches longer than most shanks so it should be what you need to get additional clearance.

In order to use a hitch extender that's rated for weight distribution like the part # RP45292 you'd need to have a 2-1/2 inch hitch installed on the vehicle.
