Can a Caster Wheel be Used on Ultra-Fab Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack

Updated 08/15/2017 | Published 08/13/2017

Question:

For storage, I need to be able to move the trailer after it has been unhitched from the vehicle. Is there a caster wheel you would recommend using with this jack?

While you could put a wheel on an electric jack such as # UF38-944017 the problem is that the wheels are rated much lower than the jacks so the jack would be limited to the capacity of the wheel. What I recommend is to use a trailer dolly such as # RA20. We use these around here sometimes to move trailers around. The 1-7/8 inch ball ensures that any coupler size will fit (doesn't have to be exact because the trailer isn't being towed).

Another option is a jack and trailer mover in one. Take a look at the Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack and Trailer Mover - Topwind - 15" Lift - 500 lbs Item # STC-V211. It is a frame mounted jack combined with trailer mover capabilities so you won't have to do all the work yourself.

If you decide to just put a wheel on the electric jack you could use # DL22414 and the jack will be limited to 1,000 pounds.
