Boat Trailer Surge Disc Brakes Dont Last Long

Question:

I have 2008 rogue boat trailer with disc brakes on the rear axle. They dont last know time. 600 miles on the last set. Im thinking something is hanging up in the surge unit. The trailer only has brakes on the rear axle. The boat is a 23foot Alumaweld, fairly heavy with all the gear. What do you think about replacing the search and adding breaks to the front axle ?

If there are brakes installed on your boat trailer (or any trailer for that matter) then it is always best to have brakes installed on all of the axles. I believe that you have diagnosed your problem exactly and that your one set of brakes is having to work extra hard so they are wearing out quickly.

If you could let me know what the weight capacity is of your axles along with the bolt pattern of your wheels, inner bearing, outer bearing, and grease seal part numbers, I can see what we have that you can use for your axles.

If you cannot find the part numbers on your bearings and seal you can simply measure your spindle with a Digital Caliper # PTW80157 to the 3rd decimal place, like 0.725. You will need to measure your spindle for parts B, C, and D in the attached picture.
